Golden Phoenix Restaurant is one of the popular hawker centers among students and local residents. Golden Phoenix Restaurant is located next to the USM Sungai Dua Entrance. Therefore, here is the one of the popular place for USM student. The name of the food court didn’t display in front of the restaurant but only Golden Phoenix logo displayed.

Island Grade Claypot Rice (砂煲饭)

Claypot rice is one of the favorite food for us. It typically served with chinese sausage, salted fish, mushroom and chicken. The rice is aromatic and taste good with soy sauce and salted fish. The portion is quite big and price is reasonable which cost RM6.00.

Chee Cheong Fun (云顶猪肠粉)

This stall is not only selling Chee Cheong Fun but also selling some dim sum. Chee Cheong Fun and dim sum are very delicious and price reasonable.

Tips à From Tesco Extra Sungai Dua, drive along Jalan Sungai Dua towards the USM entrance. Golden Phoenix is located after McDonald's. There are car park behind the restaurants.

Zi Wei Yuan Steamboat Restaurant (紫薇園魚頭火炭爐) @ Raja Uda, Penang

Famous Fish Head Steamboat @ Raja Uda

Zi Wei Yuan is one of the famous steamboat in Penang Mainland. It located in Raja Uda Street. Along the street, there are many famous and delicious hawker and restaurant. One of it is the special and famous steamboat in Raja Uda which is Zi Wei Yuan. It located at the corner when you turn in to Jalan Ara from Jalan Raja Uda. Parking is very convenient as they are huge parking place beside the shop. RM2 per car entry into car park.

One of the reason they are so famous because of the special soup base which are consists of special ingredient such as Yam, fish head and so on. Highly recommended to reach here before 7pm or 9pm to avoid peak dinner hour although the place is huge and able to serve many customer.

This is my first time to visit here, therefore we doesn’t know the menu. Waitress is very nice and recommended us for RM40 soup base with fried fish since we only have 3 person. And then, we just add some other ingredient such as fish ball, meat ball, pork slide and so on. There are also other choices such RM70 soup base with steam Siakap fish.

There are another attractive is the milky soup base which is rarely found in Penang either mainland or island. Besides that, they are using charcoal for the steamboat which is rarely seen nowadays.

We found that the soup is aromatic and sweet and you may order white rice or instant noodle too. Soup base originally has yam, fried fish and cabbage. Another thing is the homemade chili sauce is extremely perfect match when we dip along with the ingredient.

It is pretty good and worth to try on this special steamboat. 

The pricing is reasonable. We ordered 3 person soup base and other ingredients such as 2 plate meat ball, 1 plate fish ball, 1 plate abalone slide, 1 plate cabbage, 1 plate zi cai, 1x instant noodle, 3x white rice, half jar herbal tea. Total cost is RM94.
